It’s long past time to take action about this “platform” we all use. Facebook is too big and too destructive to allow it to persist in its current form any longer — and the second-hand smoke it spews into all of our lives is making us sick.
I use the metaphor intentionally, because Facebook and its other apps (including Insta) are so pervasive and ever-present that personally ignoring them or opting out doesn’t solve anything — it has seeped into the way we think, act, argue, and judge so much that our clothes, our lives, and our souls reek of it.
I’m sadly not surprised to hear that, like tobacco executives who knew for years that their product was literally killing people, Facebook executives commissioned their own research and then ignored it out of cowardice and greed. This video is required watching in my mind and hopefully the first of a long set of course corrections.
Break this thing apart, please.
